NATIONAL TRUST DYFFRYN MYMBYR REFURBISHMENT
Complete refurbishment of four houses made famous by Thomas Firbank in his ground breaking autobiographical book ‘I bought a mountain’.
The National Trust were keen to preserve the character of these properties which included the 1950’s work and furnishing by Peter and Esme Kirby. Water ingress was a serious problem which required sensitive slate and lime work to cure. The insulation and glazing has been substantially and sustainably upgraded and properties are heated by a remote Windhager biomass plant which allows a degree of comfort never experienced by any of the former residents.
This was a true ‘drains to duvets’ project with all aspects of the upgrade undertaken by Inner World. It now operates as two highly successful National Trust Holiday Letting properties.
